Matchmaking Update

official notes ↗

TL;DR

  1. This update includes a revamp to how the matchmaking system works, as well as the introduction of a new matchmaking mode. You can now choose to play in Standard Mode (unranked), or the new Ranked Mode introduced in this update.
  2. Additionally in Ranked Mode, the total number of heroes banned in a given game is increased from 2 to 3 and the algorithm used has been improved.
What do the tags mean?
  • Buff green = made stronger
  • Nerf red = made weaker
  • Fix yellow = bug fixed
  • New blue = added content or feature

Lines are quoted from the official notes; on cards, the › bullet and left stripe use the game's colour, not a tag; tags are auto-assigned, so check the full notes for edge cases.

Minor Update - 09-16-2026

  • Unstable Rift comeback resist max values now scale over the course of the game. Previously the max values were 35%. Now it is 10% + 1% per minute (around ~20% for the first one), with an upper limit of 40% at 30 minutes.
  • Removed a fixed amount of extra bonus souls you would get for being behind even a very slightly amount in net worth for both hero kill bounties as well as Unstable Rift bounties (this had a larger impact on the early to mid game)
  • Slightly reduced comeback bounties in general (this is in addition to the above change)
